Turf

Laying sod for new lawn

Landscape development provides improved human use of the land, aesthetic enjoyment, and positive influences on the environment. Living plants are essential to nature’s cycle of oxygen production replenishment. A quality turf not only looks good, it also provides many benefits when compared to other surfaces such as pavement, flowerbeds, and synthetic artificial turfs.

  • Water can easily penetrate the soil with turf as opposed to hard packed soils.  The roots “open up” the soil for better filtration and percolation.

  • Erosion prevention: Turf leaves (blades) slow the movement of water over the soil preventing erosion.  Tillers, stolens and rhizomes (roots) have a dense growth habit that locks soil particles together, preventing faster moving water from picking up soil particles that cause damage to your yard.

  • Temperature control: Turf blades can reduce surface temperatures with an evaporative cooling effect, so turf-covered areas will be cooler than those without.

  • Noise reduction: Turf grass acts as a buffer with its thousands of turf blades, sound is reduced as it moves across it surface, which reduces noise considerably.

  • Natural turf is softer and more resilient than synthetic turf and doesn’t create as many sporting injuries as artificial surfaces.

  • End product, oxygen production: Through respiration, tens of thousands of grass plants are producing oxygen for us to breathe.
